Microsoft has announced its first Windows 11 preview build today. Windows Insiders will be able to download the Windows 11 preview ( build 22000.51) now. The preview lets you access the new Start menu, as well as multitasking features and a revamped Microsoft Store. Unlike the previous Windows 11 leak, this official preview comes with an upgraded File Explorer that replaces the ribbon with a command-line bar to make managing files easier more.
The majority of the Windows 11 visual changes that Microsoft announced last week would be available in this first preview. The new Start menu with its centered launcher-like interface is part of the build and is accompanied by rounded corners throughout the OS as well as improvements to the notification center, volume flyouts, and many more. Windows 11 will include a motion parallax effect if your computer has an accelerometer.
This preview also includes the new themes for Windows 11 as well as dark and light mode enhancements and the new Widgets feature. Microsoft has joined the three new themes of Glow, Captured Motion, and Sunrise with new Windows 11 sounds as you utilize them.
Two important Windows 11 features are missing, though: Microsoft Teams integration and Android apps for Windows. These capabilities are being tested and developed by Microsoft; however, they will be included in the upcoming preview builds.
Microsoft's Snap Layouts and Snap Groups are included in this Windows 11 preview. These features make it easier to multitask across different screen sizes. These Snap features boost some of the multitasking capabilities that Windows has been offering for years, but they are easier to find and are more effective in multi-monitor situations.
Microsoft is also making changes to the Settings section of Windows 11. This preview build includes modifications that allow you to move through the various settings and get to the one you require. Settings now come with a left-hand navigation panel that persists throughout, making it simpler to switch between sections. Microsoft has added new "hero" controls on the top of the screen that provides easy access to information or settings relevant for each section.
